I’m starting a mascara series, and with each post I’ll be trying two different mascaras and coming back to report my findings with you my wonderful readers. I’ll try them so you won’t have to!!
This week I used benefit they’re real in black
And Buxom Lash mascara in blackest black.
Here is my lashes Au natural—no mascara or anything:
Here’s what I thought:
benefit’s They’re Real mascara is described as “a jet-black mascara that lengthens, curls, volatilizes, lifts, and separates lashes for a spectacular out-to-here look.” It has an exclusive brush to create said look and retails for $23 at Sep-hora. The brush has little spikes on the dome tip and they are meant to be used vertically, so you can get to each individual lash.
I thought it gave me a more dramatic look and the spiky tip really made my bottom lashes look longer and lusher—I was able to reach every single little lash. It applies very wet and is a dark black. While this mascara isn’t my absolute favorite, it definitely gave my lashes volume and drama.
I applied about two coats:
Buxom Lash is described as “an intensely volatilizing mascara for bigger, fuller lashes.” It claims to have a curvy, hourglass shaped brush that achieves a full lash look. This mascara retails for $19 at Sep-hora. Buxom Lash goes on lightly and gives you a very natural look–which isn’t a bad thing, just not my thing. I didn’t feel there was anything “buxom” about my lashes.
The brush is nice and big, which lets you get to all the lashes but I would have to apply several coats to achieve any volume at all. I wasn’t thrilled with this one, and I can’t see myself spending $19 when there are drugstore mascaras that give much fuller results. Here are the pictures, I applied about 2-3 coats.
